Zee layoffs: Company reduces its tech center workforce in Bengaluru by half.

Zee Entertainment has initiated cost-cutting measures, including reducing its tech team by 50% at its Bengaluru innovation center. This decision follows the collapse of its potential merger with Sony. According to the company's press release, the move was led by its MD & CEO, Punit Goenka, aimed at optimizing resources and creating a cost-effective structure to sustain growth.

Regarding the number of employees affected by the layoffs, the company did not disclose specific figures. However, it emphasized that the innovation center's focus remains on enhancing content creation, distribution, and monetization processes.

Punit Goenka expressed the company's commitment to delivering high-quality content and meeting viewers' expectations globally. The restructuring also involved leadership changes, with Amrit Thomas taking over data science, Kishore Krishnamurthy leading engineering, Bhushan Kolleri overseeing product management, and Vishal Somani handling enterprise and content technology.
